Compounds of the general Formula (I) <FORM:1061425/C2/1> (wherein R represents a straight or branched chain C2- 4 alkyl group, a straight-chain C2 or C3 alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an optionally substituted phenylalkyl group in which the "alkyl" part of the group contains two or more carbon atoms, or a phenoxyethyl group) and their acid addition salts are prepared by reacting a compound of the Formula (II) <FORM:1061425/C2/2> (wherein X represents a chlorine or bromine atom) with RNH2, optionally followed by salt formation. The preparation of the starting materials (II) is described. The compounds of the invention are useful in the treatment of certain cardiac diseases and (in the case of some of the compounds) of chronic hypertensive conditions and dysfunction of the peripheral vascular system; they may be administered orally or parenterally in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
