<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup in which astigmatism whose direction and magnitude are different, which are included in a spot can be suppressed and margins of optical components and assembling accuracy can be extended and also satisfactory signal quality can be stably obtained. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical pickup which is equipped with a light source, a collimating lens, an objective lens and a means which corrects the astigmatism which are included in an optical spot, the astigmatism correcting means is constituted by being provided with an astigmatism correcting element between the collimating lens and the objective lens and the element is configured so as roughly not to have power by arranging a positive-power lens and a negative-power lens to be in adjacent relation with each other and the astigmatism of the optical spot is corrected by adjusting the rotation angle of the astigmatism correcting element and the direction of a rotary shaft when a shaft being in a plane which is roughly orthogonal to the optical axis is used as the rotary shaft of the element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
