PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical resolution method for producing an optically active isoflavanone derivative. SOLUTION: The method for the optical resolution of an isoflavanone derivative comprises the optical resolution of an enantiomer mixture of an isoflavanone derivative expressed by general formula (I) (R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP>, R<SP>7</SP>, R<SP>8</SP>, R<SP>9</SP>and R<SP>10</SP>are each hydrogen atom, hydroxy group optionally protected with a protection group, a (substituted) alkyl, an alkenyl, an aralkyl or an aryl; two of R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>6</SP>groups, R<SP>7</SP>and R<SP>8</SP>, and R<SP>9</SP>and R<SP>10</SP>may be bonded together to form a ring structure) with a resolution agent containing an optically active compound as an active component.
