PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical resolution method for producing an optically active isoflavanone derivative. SOLUTION: The method for the optical resolution of an isoflavanone derivative comprises the optical resolution of an enantiomer mixture of an isoflavanone derivative expressed by general formula (I) (R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9and R10are each hydrogen atom, hydroxy group optionally protected with a protection group, a (substituted) alkyl, an alkenyl, an aralkyl or an aryl; two of R1to R6groups, R7and R8, and R9and R10may be bonded together to form a ring structure) with a resolution agent containing an optically active compound as an active component.
