PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly start an engine even if a gear position of a transmission is in a forward gear position. SOLUTION: CPU 213 detects the gear position of the transmission based on gear position control signal SGPC produced by a speed change switch 210 and a diode box 211, and enables an engine to start according to start demand operation under a condition where connection of a crank shaft and the transmission is shut off by a centrifugal clutch when the gear position is in a neutral position or a forward gear position.
