PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device which has the convenience to a user improved and prevents a light guide from being erroneously attached at the time of normal photographing. SOLUTION: The image pickup device is provided with at least one of illuminating means 111, 112, and 113 for illuminating a subject, a detection means 114 for detecting an attached/detached state of a light guide means constituted attachably to and detachably from a device main body so as to vary an illumination range of the specific illuminating means 112, and a control means 106 for controlling the operation of the device main body by a signal from the detection means 114.
