PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display apparatus capable of easily confirming the lighting time of a lamp from an optional point of time up to another optional point of time. SOLUTION: The projection type video display apparatus for optically modulating light emitted from the lamp 10 by a light bulb 5 and projecting an image by a projection lens 2 includes: a lighting integration time storage part 28 for storing the total lighting time from the initial lighting time of the lamp 10; a control part 24 for notifying that the lighting integration time of the lamp 10 which is stored in the lighting integration time storage part 28 arrives at prescribed time; a lighting time storage part 29 for storing the lighting time of the lamp 10 from an optional point of time up to another optional point of time; and a lighting time output part 30 for outputting information stored in the lighting time storage part 29.
