PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a salt-soluble microcapsule which is insoluble in water and soluble or swells in an electrolyte aqueous solution, and a composition which can be suitably used in various applications such as cosmetics, sanitary materials, aromatics, external preparations, fiber treating agents, and hair treating agents by utilizing the release function based on this feature. SOLUTION: The microcapsule uses a salt-soluble polymer as a membrane material. The salt-soluble polymer is insoluble in water and is preferably a sulfobetaine-based polymer which dissolves at a concentration of salt of 0.01-10% or more. The composition comprises the above microcapsule, and as the composition, for example, a cosmetic composition, a sanitary material composition, an aromatic composition, a fiber treating agent composition and the like can be mentioned.
