PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact automatic original feeder and an image reader having a simplified configuration. SOLUTION: Only a pair of conveying rollers 22 and a pair of discharge rollers 23 are provided on a conveying passage 25 and a switch-back passage 26 on the downstream side of a pair of resist rollers 21 as means to convey original sheets.
