The present invention relates to a method of diagnosis for identifying a neurodegenerative disorder, in particular for identifying a transmissible spongiform encephalopathy, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, multiple sclerosis or Alzheimer's disease in an animal, wherein a sample of said animal is provided to determine the protein and/or RNA level(s) of specific protein(s) expressed differentially in tissues and/or body fluids of animals suffering from neudegenerative disorders at early stages of the disease. In addition, the present invention relates to a kit of parts for identifying a neurodegenerative disorder in an animal, comprising specific detection means for determining the protein and/or RNA level(s) of one or more of the above-mentioned compounds.
