PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery firmly fixing a lead element for collecting current from an electrode group to an electrode group. SOLUTION: The secondary battery contains the electrode group having a case, a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, a cap assembly joined with the case to seal the case, and electrically connected to the electrode group, and an electrode having a current collecting plate electrically connected to at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and a plain part having no active material, and the plain part has a region arranged in the outer shell of the electrode group and larger than the region arranged in the central part of the electrode group, in other words, an expansion part making the outer shell of the electrode group larger than the central part is installed.
