PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system capable of observing video images at the time of using the light of a specified wavelength by brightness not inferior to the video images at the time of normal observation. SOLUTION: In the electronic endoscope system comprising an electronic endoscope provided with an image pickup means for picking up the image of an object and outputting image signals, a plurality of light sources for providing the electronic endoscope with illumination light for illuminating the object, in which illumination light intensities are respectively different, and a signal processing means for executing a processing to the image signals and converting them to monitor displayable video signals, a using light source detection means for detecting which light source is used is provided further and the signal processing means is made to function so as to adjust the intensity of the image signals to a prescribed level corresponding to the detected result.
