PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory device capable of reducing power consumption by collecting memory areas for holding data and making the best use of active areas to increase areas not to be refreshed. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a memory 3 divided into a plurality of banks BNK1 to BNK4 each of which is permitted to be refreshed independently, a CPU 2 for outputting a first address signal for designating a first address in the memory, and an address conversion means 4 converting the first address signal outputted from the CPU into a second address signal indicating a second address according to the stored state of memory addresses and outputting the second address signal. The second address is preferentially selected from the memory addresses for designating banks other than those whose data are not stored at all among the plurality of banks.
