PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat for a vehicle capable of smoothly and certainly moving a head rest toward the head part of a sitter when the vehicle receives rear-end collision and sufficiently ensuring a rearward movement amount of the sitter without increasing thickness of a seat back. SOLUTION: When the vehicle receives rear-end collision and the sitter is rearwardly moved by the reaction, rearward movement load of a waist part of the seating person is inputted from a pressure-receiving plate 10A to an operation force generation mechanism 10B, and pulling cable devices 11, 11 moves both ends of a head rest frame 7 along a guide part 8. As a result, the head rest 4 is smoothly and certainly moved in a forwardly upward direction toward the head part of the sitter together with the head rest frame 7. At that time, when the rearward movement load of the seating person exceeds a predetermined value, since a lower frame of a seat back frame 5 is deformed so as to rearward retreatedly move the operation force generation mechanism 10B, the rearward movement amount of the sitter is sufficiently ensured.
