The invention relates to a common rail injector with an injector housing (1) comprising a fuel supply (50) which communicates with a central high-pressure fuel source outside the injector housing and a pressure chamber (17) inside the injector housing. Depending on the pressure in a control chamber (52), pressurized fuel is injected from said fuel supply into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine once an injector needle (8) is lifted off its seat (11), the pressure in the control chamber (52) being controlled directly inversely by means of an actuator (34), especially a piezoelectric actuator. The aim of the invention is to provide an injector which is simple and inexpensive to produce. For this purpose, the combustion chamber proximal end (32) of the actuator (34) or of an actuator head provided on said actuator is guided in an actuator guiding section (30) of a coupling sleeve (28). Said guiding section has a greater inner diameter than an injector needle guiding section (26) of the coupling sleeve (28) in which the combustion chamber distal end (24) of the injector needle (8) is guided. |
