<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and precisely investigate parking vehicles using running investigating vehicles. <P>SOLUTION: A system for detecting parking vehicles has a process to perform a plurality of horizontal line scannings for a target object on a road from a running vehicle on the road to acquire an epipolar plane image (EPI image), a process to extract one or more feature tracks related to a photographed target object from the acquired EPI image, a process to calculate inclination of feature tracks for the extracted target object, a process to calculate the distance to the target object based on the calculated inclination of the feature tracks and a moving velocity of the moving object, and a process to determine the existence of a parking vehicle based on the calculated distance to the target object. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
