<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dielectric ceramic composition which has capacitance-temperature characteristics, i.e. a temporal change in capacitance, satisfying X8R characteristic of the EIA (Environmental Investigation Agency) standard, shows a small changes in Tc bias characteristics and a small change in resistance in an acceleration testing and is excellent in reliability, and to provide an electronic component. <P>SOLUTION: The dielectric ceramic composition at least has an essential component containing barium titanate, a first subcomponent essentially comprising silicon oxide, a second subcomponent containing CaZrO<SB>3</SB>or a mixture of CaO and ZrO<SB>2</SB>, a third subcomponent comprising an oxide of a first rare-earth element (R1) selected from Sc, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu, a fourth subcomponent comprising an oxide of a second rare-earth element (R2) selected from Y, Dy, Ho, Tb, Gd and Eu, a fifth subcomponent selected from MgO, CaO, BaO and SrO and a sixth subcomponent selected from V<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, MoO<SB>3</SB>and WO<SB>3</SB>.
