<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ring antenna which does not need a large area and includes a functional element for carrying out rectification, detection or switching function. <P>SOLUTION: First and second conductors are arranged with both ends opposite so that a ring is formed on a dielectric substrate. A capacitance element is connected between one end of the first conductor and one end of the second conductor, while a functional element is connected between the other end of the first conductor and the other end of the second conductor. When λo is the free space wavelength of an operating frequency fo, the length of the first and second conductors is λo/4 or smaller, and the length of the ring is λo/2 or smaller. When a major axis is the one in parallel with an elongated direction of the functional element in the ring, a minor axis is the one crossing the major axis, L1 is a length of the minor axis, and L2 is a length of the major axis; L1/L2 is 0.5 or smaller.
