PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminating device for photographing which unevenly illuminates within an image plane. SOLUTION: In the illuminating device for photographing, intended illumination irregularity is set by illuminating a subject by using a part of (m×n) light emitting bodies which respectively illuminate different ranges in a photographic viewing angle. A plurality of illumination patterns are stored in a non-volatile memory 104 in advance, and cyclically selected by repeatedly operating a pattern setting switch (105). In a display unit 103, a square of m rows×n columns can be displayed corresponding to (m×n) light emitting bodies, and the light emitting body set (determined) to emit light is displayed white and the light emitting body set not to emit light is displayed black.
