PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an more effective encoding method between blocks. SOLUTION: There are provided methods for encoding a first pixel set within a first image with reference to a second image within a video sequence in a number of embodiments. Within a first searching window, one method searches and identifies a first specified portion inside the second image that best matches a first pixel set within the first image. Within the first search window inside the second image, another method identifies a first location corresponding to the first specified portion. Next, within a second search window inside the second image that is defined near the first location, this method identifies a second specified portion inside the second image that best matches the first pixel set within the first image.
