PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent softening of fiber-optic cable resin cores by the heat, when forming a thermoplastic resin sheath surrounding the core assembly. SOLUTION: A fiber-optic cable 10 is manufactured, by extrusion molding the sheath 16 of thermoplastic resin 16A surrounding the core assembly 9 obtained by putting fiber-optic tape core wires 4 in the grooves 13 of a slotted rod 2 and winding a tape 15 on it. The manufacturing method and the machine has a cooling step to forcedly cool the core assembly 9 immediately before extrusion molding the sheath of thermoplastic resin. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
