PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save a ribbon to be wound when removing the looseness of the ribbon. SOLUTION: When a ribbon winding operation is started, a ribbon winding mode for driving a ribbon winding spool is carried out without driving a platen (S10). As the looseness of the ribbon is removed by driving the ribbon winding spool to wind the ribbon without driving the platen, it is possible to reduce the amount of ribbon to be wound when removing the looseness as compared to a conventional method wherein a platen is also driven.
