PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope device capable of obtaining erected images at all times even in the case of using an optical adapter for which images obtained by the optical adapter are inverted images. SOLUTION: In the electronic endoscope device, a system control part 4 is provided with an optical adapter detection part 25 for detecting the kind of the optical adapter which is a distal end 2, and in the case of connecting the distal end 2 provided with the optical adapter which does not invert the images to an insertion part 1, high level signals are sent from the optical adapter detection part 25 to a CPU 18 and the processing of vertically inverting image data obtained by a CCD 14 is performed corresponding to the high level signals.
