摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an automobile from entering a state of being incapable of traveling, by controlling overcharge of a battery in direct traveling mode where the automobile travels only with power being outputted from an engine directly to the drive shaft through a power distributing/integrating mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: When abnormality occurs in a motor MG2 or an inverter 42 and direct traveling mode is set, engine speed of an engine 22 is held at a target speed Ne* as an accelerator pedal 83 is turned on, and driving of the engine 22 and a motor MG1 is controlled such that a driving force is outputted to a ring gear shaft 32a by outputting power generation torque from a motor MG1.
