<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system composed by further improving uniformity of luminance of a light guide plate; and to provide a liquid crystal display device equipped with the lighting system. <P>SOLUTION: The length W<SB>1</SB>in the width direction of a light entering surface 21 of a light guide pipe 20 is equal to or slightly larger than the diameter of a part for actually emitting light in an LED 30, that is, a light emission part 32. According to a structure like that, both once-reflected light and twice-reflected light can advance at an angle nearly vertical to a light emitting surface 27 toward the light emitting surface 27 of the light guide pipe 20, and as a result, light emission efficiency of the light guide plate can be enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
