PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for removing image overlap/defocusing phenomena caused by a residual image by an LCD simulating CRT pulse type display with which residual image phenomena are completely removed and superior CRT display simulation effect can be obtained with a liquid crystal display unit. SOLUTION: In the removing device for image overlap/defocusing phenomena equipped with 1st and 2nd input control lines, 1st and 2nd input data lines, a 1st capacitor, a 2nd capacitor, 1st and 2nd transistors, a back light unit whose lightness can be controlled and adjusted, and a back light voltage input control line, the 1st and 2nd input control lines are connected to a gate drive and the 1st and 2nd input data lines are connected to a data drive, respectively; when the lightness of the back light unit is adjusted to a minimum value with a control voltage in a scanning period of black lines, the liquid crystal total optical response in the period is adjusted to a minimum value to obtain the effect that image overlap/defocusing phenomena due to after-images between display pictures are securely removed.
