PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device that allows reduction in size by effectively arranging a circuit board, particularly that allows reduction in the lateral width (the main scanning direction size of the recording head), as well as allowing the cable for connection to various kinds of control objects to be routed around with length shortened. SOLUTION: The recording device 1 has a substrate constituted of a main frame 59 extending in the main scanning direction and of right and left side frames 63, 61 orthogonal to the main frame 59. The left side frame 61 pivotally supports a shaft end 29a of a carrying drive roller for carrying a medium to be recorded, and the outside of the frame surface is provided with train of gears including the transmitting gears 83, 85. The main substrate 65, wherein electronic components for conducting various controls of the device are mounted, is arranged in parallel with the outside frame surface, in a space formed around the train of gears on the outside frame surface of the left side frame 6.
