PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording head having high heat efficiency and excellent thermal responsiveness. SOLUTION: A thermal head 5 comprises a substrate 26, a partial glaze 27a, a heating element array 28, and a heat sink 36. A sealed space 37 is formed between the substrate 26 and the heat sink 36, and ferrofluid 38 having high heat conductivity is sealed in the space 37. The ferrofluid 38 is displaced between a first position where the heat generated by the heating element array 28 is transferred to the heat sink 36, and a second position where the heat is not transferred to the heat sink 36.
