PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recessed groove forming method for easily performing the working control, enhancing the versatility for the groove width and the groove length, and reducing the working steps. SOLUTION: When forming a plurality of recessed grooves 21a of the predetermined length in the inner wall surface of a metallic cylindrical body on the same circumferential surface, the surface of the predetermined range including parts corresponding to at least the recessed groove forming positions out of the outer wall surface of the metallic cylindrical body is abutted on and supported by an outside diameter collet, and the recessed grooves 21a are formed by expanding an inside diameter collet 23 of a divided cylindrical shape having a plurality of sets of punch parts which are made to correspond to the recessed grooves and are displaceable along the radial direction of the metallic cylindrical body.
