<p>Device for laterally supporting a rail comprises a support element (2) that when mounted laterally rests against the rail, and an adjusting element (3) that when mounted laterally rests with one supporting face (13) against the support element and laterally supports the support element against a fixed stopping face via its second supporting face (12). The supporting face of the adjusting element assigned to the support element is oriented in the direction of the longitudinal course (L) of the rail at an angle to the stopping face and when mounted creates a connection between the adjusting element and the support element that prevents the adjusting element and the support element from being displaced relative to each other. An independent claim is also included for a system for fixing a rail on a fixed subconstruction.
