<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with which miniaturization of the apparatus as a whole is easily realized and superior maintainability related to process unit is ensured. <P>SOLUTION: In a color laser printer, scanner units 21 and process cartridges 31 are disposed, such that one alternates with the other and such that they are inclined with their ends looking towards the front. This decreases the height of the apparatus and hence its size. In addition, since the process cartridge 31 is made detachable in the direction in which the ends look towards the front, as described above, its attachment/detachment is facilitated.
