PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an armrest for an automobile wherein core material can be surely buckled in side collision. SOLUTION: In the armrest for the automobile comprising the core material made of synthetic resin fixed to a vehicle body, capable of enduring a load by an elbow of an occupant; cushion material made of foaming synthetic resin to cover the core material, capable of flexibly supporting the occupant's elbow; and a cover member for covering the cushion material, a hole wherein the cushion material can be warped by shock in a side collision direction is formed on a portion from a vehicle inside of the cushion material to a vehicle outside.
