The ventilation system (1) for an aircraft has a number of air ducts (21-24) extending between an air inlet (35) and respective air outlets (31-34). A fan (3) is installed in each air duct by which direction and intensity of the air flow is controllable. A control unit (5) is provided which controls the output of the individual fans in accordance with the airflow required at the individual air outlets. At least one of the fans is constructed as an equipment fan.
