<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of saving electric power in energy-saving mode and of shortening the start-up time in the energy-saving mode and after a main power switch is turned on. <P>SOLUTION: In the standby mode, one fixing heater is sometimes turned on to maintain fixing temperature at 180°C. The mean power consumption in the standby mode of the electric power of 1st and 2nd power circuits, and the electric power for sometimes turning on the fixing heater is about 400 W. In the quick start-up mode, the image forming apparatus can be started up faster than usual, by supplying electric power to a fixing device nearly up to rated electric power. When three heaters are turned on and a start-up priority mode is set to OFF, the fixing heaters 3 are turned off (S32) and a 2nd power circuit is actuated, in response to key depression at an operation part by a user or mounting of a document to make a 2nd control part ready in about 10 seconds, so the user can use only a scanner function earlier, without waiting for the fixing device to be started up. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
