<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus using an intermediate transfer body, with which superior transferability can always be obtained and which appropriately copes with abnormalities, when there is an abnormality on the intermediate transfer body. <P>SOLUTION: An output current detecting part 234 detects transfer bias state in a 2nd transfer part 210 for transferring an image formed on an intermediate transfer body belt 136 to printing paper over a prescribed range, corresponding to an image forming range on the intermediate transfer body belt 136. A decision part 236 and a transfer output voltage determining part 238 adjust the transfer bias as an image forming condition, by controlling a transfer high-voltage power source 222 based on the result of detection. When the decision part 236 decides that the result of detection is abnormal, an abnormality-countering processing part 260 performs disposal to cope with the occurrence of characteristic abnormality on the intermediate transfer belt 136 as storing abnormality history in a storage part 262, informing the user of the abnormality information by an informing part 264 or stopping image forming processing via a stop control part 266. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
