<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining head in a laser beam machine, a machining head that prevents a nozzle unit from being damaged by making the nozzle unit rockable when it collides with a workpiece. <P>SOLUTION: The nozzle unit 17 is installed in a rockable manner on the lower end of a lens holder H in which a condensing lens 20 is housed. A coil spring 30 is interposed between the lower end face of a mounting member 15 and the upper face of a connecting member 24 of the nozzle unit 17, so that the nozzle unit 17 is normally held in a manner pressed at a regular position. In the inner space 34 of the nozzle unit 17, there is supplied an assist gas from an assist gas generating device 37 through a feeding pipe 38 and a gas introducing port 39. With an electromagnetic stop valve 41 installed in the middle of the feeding pipe 38, the stop valve 41 is switched to a drain port when, by a distance sensor 43, the nozzle 23 is found abnormally close to the workpiece W, discharging the assist gas of the inner space 34 of the nozzle unit 17 to allow the rocking of the nozzle unit 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
