PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material solution for manufacturing a nonlinear optical material, which has excellent workability and has a pot life extending over a long period of time, and with which the nonlinear optical material and a nonlinear optical element having excellent nonlinear optical performance are obtained, and to provide the nonlinear optical material and the nonlinear optical element having excellent nonlinear optical performance and excellent stability at a low cost by utilizing the raw material solution. SOLUTION: The raw material solution for manufacturing the nonlinear optical material is characterized by containing a nonlinear optically active molecule (a) having at least a hydrolyzable silyl group, an organometallic compound (b) which is at least one kind of compound out of compounds represented by Al(OR<SP>1</SP>)<SB>p</SB>(R<SP>2</SP>COCHCOR<SP>3</SP>)<SB>3-p</SB>, Zr(OR<SP>1</SP>)<SB>q</SB>(R<SP>2</SP>COCHCOR<SP>3</SP>)<SB>4-q</SB>, and Ti(OR<SP>1</SP>)<SB>r</SB>(R<SP>2</SP>COCHCOR<SP>3</SP>)<SB>4-r</SB>and a multidentate ligand (c) being a compound represented by R<SP>4</SP>COCH<SB>2</SB>COR<SP>5</SP>.
