PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein atmosphere temperature fluctuation disturbs stable identification. SOLUTION: This coin identification device has: an A/D conversion means 43 connected to an output of an identification part 26; a first temperature correction means 48 having one input supplied with output of the A/D conversion means 43 and the other input supplied with output of an temperature detection means 45 detecting the atmosphere temperature; a memory 50 previously storing data that are a reference of the kind and genuineness of a coin; a comparison means 49 comparing output of the first temperature correction means 48 and data of the memory 50; and a decision means 51 deciding the denomination and the genuineness of the coin by a comparison result of the comparison means 49.
