PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens driving device suitable for a mobile camera mounted on a cellular phone or the like, and that is miniaturized and thinned, and made superior in impact resistance. SOLUTION: The lens driving device is equipped with a base 10, having a cylindrical part 11, a lens frame 20 supported to freely move back and forth in an optical axis direction L in the cylindrical part 11, a driving mechanism moving the lens frame 20 in the optical axis direction and constituted of a cam ring 30, a torsion coil spring 50, a compression coil spring 70 or the like, a motor 40 for driving and rotating the cam ring 30, and a cover 80 having a hole 81, through which the lens frame 20 is inserted and fixed on the base 10. The motor 40 is fixed on the base 10 so that its rotary shaft 41 is nearly perpendicular to the optical axis direction L, and the cover 80 is formed to surround and hold the motor 40 from the outside, in cooperation with the base 10. Thus, the device is thinned and miniaturized, and its impact resistance against dropping or the like is enhanced, and reliability in terms of functions is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
