PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device adaptable to moving picture which attains moving picture characteristics, color reproducibility and reliability simultaneously. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device composed of a white light source provided with a blue phosphor having a blue based emission light color, a green phosphor having a green based emitted light color and a red phosphor having a red based emission light color and having a turned-on state and a turned-off state in one frame and a liquid crystal element adjusting a transmission quantity of light from the white light source for every pixel and having a color filter transmitting light of any one of blue, green and red for every pixel, at least one of the blue, green and red phosphors is formed by using a mixed phosphor formed by mixing at least two phosphors having base material compositions different from each other and phosphors whose light emission centers have the same element are utilized for mixing of phosphors having the same color.
