PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow measurement irrespective of positive or negative polarity in each of a voltage terminal and a current terminal, when diagnosing a battery used for an emergency power source, an uninterruptive power supply, an operation power source or the like. SOLUTION: This battery diagnostic device for carrying out discharge for a short time to measure terminal voltages a plurality of times is provided with the first countercurrent preventive diode 4a serving as a current control part, and the second countercurrent preventive diode 4b serving as a current control part normal-directionally and reverse-directionally to form pairs in series, in a closed circuit a of the battery diagnostic device. The first countercurrent preventive diode 4a serving as the current control part, and the second countercurrent preventive diode 4b serving as the current control part are converted respectively into countercurrent preventive diodes by a signal of a diode control signal part 3b, and constitution current-controlled by a current control signal part 3a, in response to the determination of the positive or negative polarity of an electrode terminal of the diagnosed battery 5 by a polarity determining part.
