PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a phthalocyanine compound exhibiting excellent photoreceptor properties in the case of using as an electrophotographic receptor. SOLUTION: The method for producing a phthalocyanine compound comprises the reaction of a compound capable of forming a phthalocyanine ring with a trivalent metal salt in a nitro compound.
