摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce torque shock, by exactly adjusting engine torque in switching of two combustion modes of a stratified charge combustion mode of a lean air-fuel ratio and a homogeneous combustion mode of a rich air-fuel ratio, in a cylinder injection internal combustion engine operated by switching between the stratified charge combustion mode and homogeneous combustion mode. SOLUTION: For example, in switching from the stratified charge combustion mode to the homogeneous combustion mode, a throttle valve 20 is closed by a predetermined amount before switching the the fuel injection mode (time t2 and t3). An amount of increase in pumping loss along with the close operation of the valve is detected based on a signal or the like from an intake pressure sensor 21, and an amount of decrease in combustion efficiency or the like caused by enrichment of an air-fuel ratio A/F is detected, and a fuel injection amount is corrected to be increased so as to cancel out the decrease in engine toque along with the increase in pumping loss and the enrichment of the air-fuel ratio (t2 to t4). The fuel injection mode is switched from compression stroke injection to intake stroke injection, and ignition retard is performed corresponding to a jump of the air-fuel ratio along with the switching (t4 or after), so that rapid increase in engine torque immediately after the switching of injection modes is canceled out.
