A liquid ester composition obtained by esterifying dipentaerythritol with a branched isostearic acid, e.g., 2-(1,3,3-trimethyl)butyl-5,7,7-trimethyloctoic acid, the composition having a viscosity at 25°C of 100,000-2,000,000 mPa·s, a hydroxy value of 10-160, and a cloud point lower than 5°C. Like the polybutene used as one of the oil materials for cosmetic preparations, this liquid ester composition enables a cosmetic film to give a lasting filmy feeling and improves the gloss and moist feeling of a cosmetic preparation, the shape retention of a lipstick, etc., and other properties. In addition, the composition has the ability to disperse pigments and the ability to contain water unlike the polybutene. |
