<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which performs fixation processing, based on the pixel density of a side end of an unfixed image, even if the temperature of the end of a fixing member is not high enough to have no fixation defect at the side end, and also acceletes energy saving by shortening a time of recovery from a preheat mode "waiting time" etc. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with side-end temperature thermistors 28 and 29 which detect the temperature of the side end of a heat roller 12 as a fixing member and a control part (not shown), including a function as a pixel density detecting means of detecting the pixel density of the side end of the unfixed image, while controlling the whole. This control part places the fixing member including an imaging part (not shown) in operation to fix the unfixed image on a transfer form, even if the temperature of the side end (m) of the heat roller 12 is not sufficiently high on the condition that the side-end (n) ((m) and (n) coincide in terms of the) of the unfixed image is less than a previously set specified value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
