PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging optical unit comprising an imaging optical system including movable lens groups and a movable member for restricting an amount of light, with which a size reduction is achieved in the direction along the optical axis of an imaging optical system. SOLUTION: A digital camera (1) comprises: the imaging optical system including a fixed lens group (21) having a prism (25), the movable lens groups (22 and 23), and a fixed lens group (24); an imaging device (26); and a movable shutter unit (50). The lens groups (22 and 23) and the shutter unit (50) are independently driven by motors (42, 43, and 44). A guide shaft (36) supports the lens groups (22 and 23) so that the lens groups (22 and 23) freely move, and prevents the lens groups (22 and 23) from inclining. A guide shaft (37) prevents the lens groups (22 and 23) from rotating. Conversely, the guide shaft (37) supports the shutter unit (50) so that the shutter unit (50) freely moves, and prevents the shutter unit (50) from inclining.
