PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a device relating to a color to sound converter used for an apparatus which enables the recognition of the color of an object by means of tone and voice and enables a person to easily recognize color arrangements and their variation states, for example, whether the variation in color is gradual, or regions of different colors exist side-by-side so as to share a borderline, and to easily master and check a relation between the color and the voice tone. SOLUTION: A color to sound converter is provided, in which color element values such as RGB values, HLS values and the like specifying the color of received light are repetitively calculated, and sound data corresponding to the calculated color element values are generated at respective calculations, and sounds corresponding the sound data are continuously or repeatedly produced, and when a command signal is received, a color name having the color element value nearest to the calculated color element value is selected from a plurality of color names being previously registered, and the selected color name is sounded.
