PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter capable of transmitting infrared rays to an image pickup element so as to perform observation using the infrared rays and suppressing the influence of the infrared rays (degradation of image quality or the like for instance) in normal observation. SOLUTION: This color filter arranged on the front surface of the image pickup element for picking up color images is provided with two or more kinds of specified wavelength transmission filters for transmitting the electromagnetic waves of respectively different wavelengths, and the two or more kinds of the specified wavelength transmission filters are arrayed in a matrix shape so as to respectively correspond to the respective pixels of the image pickup element.
