PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous dispersion of an ethylene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer having good coatability to a hydrophobic polymer, capable of forming a sealing layer which has low moisture permeability and good heat-sealing characteristics, and capable of forming a rust-preventive layer excellent in moisture-resistant performance to a metallic material. SOLUTION: The aqueous dispersion comprises an ethylene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer (A) having a (meth)acrylic acid content of 5-30 wt%, a dimer acid or a derivative thereof (B) having an acid value of 100-700 mg KOH/g and water, wherein the content of the dimer acid or the derivative thereof (B) is 5-500 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the copolymer (A). The copolymer (A) is dispersed in water with a lower aliphatic amine, an alkali metal compound, an alkaline earth metal compound or the like in an amount of 40-500 mol% based on the carboxy group of the copolymer (A).
