PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a central nervous system (CNS) injury (especially, secondary tissue degeneration caused by spinal injury and CNS injury). SOLUTION: This method of reducing the severity of secondary tissue degeneration associated with a central nervous system (CNS) injury in a subject by administering to a subject having secondary tissue degeneration associated with CNS injury an effective amount of a neutralizing agent specific for interferon-inducible protein of 10 kDa (CXCL10).
