PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric cooker operating securely and having a highly reliable safety mechanism. SOLUTION: The electric cooker has a container 4 removably placed on a body 2 which has a motor built in, a safety pin 3 which is pressed only when the container 4 is normally placed on the body 2 by a projection 5 provided on the bottom of the container 4, a switch 7 for making and breaking by operation of a switch plate 10, a movable plate 8 which is urged by a spring 14 orthogonal to an operation direction of the switch plate 10 and which inhibits operation of the switch plate 10, and a rotating member 13 which rotates in conjunction with the safety pin 3 and regulates moving of the movable plate 8 against the urging force. When the container 4 is normally placed on the body 2, the rotating member 13 rotates so as to release regulation of the movable plate 8, and the movable plate 8 moves by the urging force of the spring 14 for allowing operation of the switch plate 10. The moving of the movable plate 8 is performed by using the rotating member 13 rather than by using an inclination for sliding, thereby loss of force such as friction or the like is not generated and the movable plate 8 operates securely.
